Q&A With the Doctor

Q: Does The Cancer Center have specialized equipment to treat cancer?

A: The Cancer Center is equipped with a linear accelerator for delivering radiation treatments, and it was one of the first centers in northern Virginia to utilize new technology known as image-guided radiation therapy. This technology is used to scan patients before daily treatment to ensure accuracy and significantly minimize treatment side effects. We are proud to be one of the leaders in the area to use this technology.

Q: How many days will my treatment last, and how long does each treatment take?

A: Most patients will receive daily treatments, Monday through Friday, for about six to eight weeks. The treatments usually take between five and 10 minutes, but plan on being at The Cancer Center for about 20 minutes every day.

Q: What types of cancer do you treat?

A: I have vast experience treating patients with various forms of cancer. Some common forms of cancer that I specialize in treating include prostate cancer, various forms of head and neck cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, and brain tumors. I also treat all forms of abdominal, pelvic, bone, and skin tumors. The radiation therapy technologists and nurse at the center also have experience treating and caring for patients with these types of cancer.
